A Month Of Sundays: H265 Encoding


We are moving on to h265 video encoding, and although it takes a month of Sundays to process them, it should be a good thing for our 8K videos.

8K Video Rendering Times and File Sizes


Let’s check the rendering times and file sizes when we create an 8K 7680×1920 30 fps lossless AVI, using the free Ut video codec, then convert that to an 8K 3840×3840 60Mbps 30fps mp4 with myFFmpeg.
The goal is to eliminate recompression artifacts.

Let’s Do It Again!


Since I made a mistake with Reaper during the creation of my last 360 3D project, let’s create another one!
We want to render an 8K 7680×1920 30 fps lossless AVI, using the free Ut video codec, then convert that to an 8K 3840×3840 60Mbps 30fps mp4 with myFFmpeg.
The goal is to eliminate recompression artifacts.

No Screws and Wrong SATA Cable


I bought a 4TB internal hard drive to use strictly for video editing, but it didn’t have any mounting screws, and I bought the wrong SATA cable.

This is my first official 8K 360 3D video created by rendering a lossless FSBS AVI out of Magix Movie Studio Platinum 14, then converting it to a 60Mbps FOU mp4 with myFFmpeg.

I’m backpedaling, again, but the good news is I’m going to show you how to determine the best bitrate for a 360 3D video, using myFFmpeg. BTW, I used 15000k for this one. Do you think 24000k would look even better? Looking at it with my Oculus Rift, I can still see some recompression artifacts. 😦

On The Pier


There were very few people on the beach. Tuesdays are like that in Huntington Beach, California, this time of the year. So, I took my Weeview 3D camera up on the pier, but didn’t have a way to monitor what I was shooting, and ended up with way too much sky in the shots, so I cropped off most of the sky for this 360 3D project.

This is my first FOU (full resolution over/under) 360 3D video with spatial tracking audio (wear headphones to experience it). The static background was created with Blender, the composited 3D video was recorded with a Weeview 3D camera (most of the barrel distortion was removed with the Deform filter in Magix Movie Studio 14 Platinum), and the audio was recorded with a Zoom H2n and mixed with Reaper. Everything was then processed with FFmpeg (using myFFmpeg).
