Viewable in 2D, 3D and 360° virtual reality with spatial tracking audio.
Today’s task is very simple, but extremely important. I’m wanting to confirm whether or not I am ending up with true stereo sound that can be horizontally rotated in virtual reality. Listen carefully to the sounds in this video and help me determine whether or not that is happening.
The 2D video in this 360° scene was recorded with a Sony camcorder using 5.1 surround sound audio from the internal microphone.
Editing was done in Sony Movie Studio Platinum 13, the audio was rendered as a 5.1 surround sound WAVE file, then muxed with the video using FFmpeg and the Avanti GUI. The audio codec used in FFmpeg was AAC with 4 channels, which works for uploading to YouTube.
